DSC_0296By Lina S., Rock Mayock’s Pac-12 Research Assistant, 11:30 p.m. | Hey guys! It’s Lina. I am so sorry that I never finished the Pac-12 Preview. Rock threw this crap on my plate at the last minute when he knew I had Design Institute projects to finish. I know that football season started three weeks ago so I’m going to make this as super short as possible. BTW, Edwin said taking pictures of me posing all sexy and stuff would be a good apology for missing the Pac-12 Preview deadline. I think that perv just wanted to see me in lingerie. It’s all good though. The PhDs are good guys and I’m happy to oblige.

Washington:  Washington is going to be pretty good this year because they have a great quarterback and a pretty good coach. I always told Rock that QBs win games, not coaches, and Keith Price is pretty bad ass. He can make all of the throws and in my opinion he is a better pure passer than Matt Barkley plus he can run.

The problems Washington is going to have is with their run game and their defense. Chris Polk was a bad ass running back and I still don’t know why he entered the draft instead of playing one more year. I guess he couldn’t say “no” to the money. Bishop Sankey is OK but he’s no Chris Polk. Steve Sarkisisian needs to find that “go to” guy if the Huskies are going to compete with Stanford and Oregon.

Last year the Huskies’ defense was shittier than a Foo Fighters’ album so they fired Nick Holt in the off season. New DC Justin Wilcox did alright against San Diego State and Portland State but LSU ripped them a new one. I’d bet that Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State are going to rip them a new one too.

Washington State:  I liked Paul Wulff but new head coach Mike Leach has proved he’s worth every penny of his $2.25 million salary. It’s not Wulff left the program with nothing but crappy players. He actually recruited a lot talent that Leach has been able to plug and play into his offensive/defensive scheme.

Overall the Cougars looked like shit against BYU but they looked good against Eastern Washington and my hometown UNLV Rebels (did you see me at the game?). The Cougars are probably going to have a QB controversy brewing once Jeff Tuel gets healthy because Connor Halliday has been fucking awesome. The Halliday to Marquess Wilson hookup was unstoppable against UNLV. Can you believe that Wilson is from that armpit town Tulare? Ugh!

The biggest problem the Cougars are going to have will be with their defense. They’ve given up at least 20 points in all three of the their games and that includes a 20 spot against Division II Eastern Washington. It’s not like their defense is going to get good all of the sudden so I think they’re just going to need to score enough points to stay in games.

Even though I don’t like it that way, I told you this was going to be super quick. Rock told me that I need to write up an evaluation about the first quarter of the Pac-12 season so I’ll throw something together later this week. Talk you later guys!
